Awesome holiday bushcraft fun!

Schools out… and that means the adventure is ready to begin!

 

Children’s holidays are about discovery and new adventures. Being given the chance to be creative and to try lots of new activities, children will naturally become more confident and develop great new skills and knowledge.

 

For those at the beginning of their bushcraft journey, our TRIBE Adventure Days are the perfect choice. The children will explore the most fundamental aspects of bushcraft combined with fun, educational games, problem solving challenges and songs. Each of the Adventure Days covers a different selection of activities, so for a comprehensive experience across the holidays why not book your child onto all 5 Adventure Days.

 

IMPORTANT: Registration for this Bushcraft Day Camp close ‘7 days’ before the start of the event and for each event to run, a minimum of 6 participants are required.

There are a total of 5 awesome Adventure Days to choose from. Each one has a different bushcraft theme and each with a different plant name and stamp. Check them out below.

 
Adventure Day : BLUEBELL
– Fire Lighting | Survival Bracelets | Scavenger Hunt –
      • FIRE LIGHTING – Learn to build ‘The Perfect Fire’ and light it using a ferrorod; of course, this wouldn’t be the same without toasted marshmallows too.
      • SURVIVAL BRACELETS – Test your crafting skills by making a useful survival bracelet that you can keep handy for any time you need some cord.
      • SCAVENGER HUNT – Explore the woodland in search of items useful to any aspiring bushcrafter.

Adventure Day : FOXGLOVE
– Woodworking | Shelter Building | Nature Walk –
      • WOODWORKING – Learn to safely use a bushcraft knife as you carve a functional tent peg to use later on.
      • SHELTER BUILDING – Learn to build a watertight shelter using tarps, paracord and the tent peg you made yourself.
      • NATURE WALK – Explore the woodland learning all about the plants and trees here, and importantly for every bushcrafter, what they can be used for.

Adventure Day : RAMSON
– Water Filters | Willow Weaving | Water Purification –
      • WATER FILTERS – Use gathered materials from your surroundings to construct an effective water filter capable of clearing the debris from natural water sources, ready for boiling.
      • WILLOW WEAVING – Keeping with the water theme, use willow to weave a fish to take home.
      • WATER PURIFICATION – Remember the water you filtered? Well, if we were to use it then it would also need boiling. Practice fire lighting and building a fire designed to boil water quickly.

Adventure Day : SORREL
– Campfire Cooking | Camouflage & Concealment | Foraging & Tracking –
      • CAMPFIRE COOKING – Yum! Bread twists cooked over a campfire are amazing, especially when you’ve made the fire yourself.
      • CAMOUFLAGE & CONCEALMENT – See how well you can blend in with your surroundings with our camouflage games and challenges.
      • FORAGING & TRACKING – Explore the woodland searching for food and animal tracks and most importantly learn how to forage safely.

Adventure Day : THISTLE
– Woodworking | TRIBE Village | Bug Detectives –
      • WOODWORKING – Carve a “Mini Try Stick”, the perfect project to try out lots of different cutting techniques.
      • TRIBE VILLAGE – Let your creativity and ingenuity show through as you add to the TRIBE Village, whether that be a natural shelter, fence, path, bridge or bench.
      • BUG DETECTIVES – Get close to the ground in search of creepy crawlies – where do they live, what are they called…

 

What to bring

TRIBE provides all the equipment required on each Bushcraft Day Camp, however additional equipment can also be bought from TRIBE should you wish to do so, please contact one of the event organisers (scroll down) to find out more.

 

The following kit list is required for each Adventure Day

  • Outdoor footwear – we recommend walking boots (no open shoes such as sandals or crocs)
  • Waterproof jacket
  • Outdoor trousers (no jeans)
  • A packed lunch
  • Water or other cold drink
Optional
  • Gardening gloves
  • A hot drink
  • Insect repellent (usually summer and autumn periods only)
  • Mobile phone

**Please note: If you wish for your child to bring a mobile phone, this will need to be kept in their rucksack whilst the sessions are ongoing due to safety reasons and the overall woodland experience. Please contact the event organiser (scroll down) for more information.

 

Additional Information

Spending time in the woods is made even more enjoyable at TRIBE by our bright & airy on-site compost toilets, foot-operated hand washing facilities, and covered Main Camp area with seats and pads for everyone.

 

Adventure Days run from 09:00 – 15:30 and are child-only, giving you a few hours of golden time to catch up with life or just relax. If you feel that your child would not be able to attend unaccompanied, it may be worth considering attending one of our weekly Social Saturdays – Family Bushcraft events which run each Saturday from 10:00 – 12:00 alternatively, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate you.
